Rain in KorEa

Rain (Real name: Jeong Ji-hoon [정지훈], born 25 June 1982) is a male Korean pop singer, dancer, model, and actor. As the word for "rain" is different in many languages, he is known by a variety of names. In Europe and the US, he is known by the English word Rain. He is known in Korea as , romanized as Bi (pronounced /biː/).
Rain was born in Seoul. He became interested in R&B and Hiphop dancing in the 6th grade. As an adolescent, he was a member of a boy band called Fanclub. The group was short-lived, and soon disbanded. Rain then began auditioning for various talent agencies. In a CNN interview, however, he recalled being repeatedly rejected because of his looks: "In fact, I was told after one audition that my singing and dancing was great but I didn't make it because I didn't have double eyelids." Finally, Rain entered an audition for Korean talent agency JYP Entertainment. Park Jin Young, the CEO of the agency, took a personal interest in Rain and accepted him as a trainee. During the early years of training, Rain was a backup dancer.
In 2002 he debuted with the album Bad Guy where he was introduced to the media through his stage name, Rain. The album's title single Bad Guy was a hit. After his first album, he took time off from his career as a singer to star in the drama series,
Sang Doo! Let's Go To School. Following the success of his debut as singer and actor, Rain released his second album How to Avoid The Sun, and had another hit with the title song "Ways to Avoid the Sun."
In 2004, he starred in another successful drama called "
Full House", which was one of the highest-rated Korean dramas of all time with ratings of over 30% for every episode. It was broadcasted in many other countries including the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Japan, Taiwan and the U.S. Through Full House, Rain was recognized across Asia. His performance in the drama also won him the Best Actor Award at the KBS Acting Awards.

His third album It's Raining sold over 1 million copies in Asia. According to a report by Rain's previous agency JYP Ent. to the Korea Culture & Content Agency, It's Raining topped the charts in all of the following countries as of December 29th, 2005: Japan (100,000 copies), China (500,000 copies), Taiwan (70,000 copies), Thailand (150,000 copies), Indonesia (50,000 copies), and South Korea (154,000 copies), for a combined total of 1,074,000 units sold, making it Rain's most successful album to date both domestically and internationally. His first concert, Rainy Day, held in Korea and Japan, was sold out the first day tickets became available.
In 2004, Rain earned greater recognition by winning the MTV Asia Grand Slam, securing top honors in all the Asian countries which broadcast MTV Asia. Rain won the Favorite Korean Artist at the 2005 MTV Asia Aid held in Bangkok, the Most Popular Asian Artist Award from Channel [V] Thailand, the Best Buzz Asia Award during the
MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2005 (He won Best buzz ASIA as well as Orange Range and Stefanie Sun.) and the Best Korean Singer award in the MTV-CCTV Mandarin Music Honors in Beijing. Rain was also the first Asian performing artist ever[citation needed] to be invited to the 2005 American MTV Video Music Awards in Miami, as well as the 2005 MTV Latin Video Music Awards in Mexico. These accomplishments earned Rain a lot of media attention, including interviews with Time Asian Edition and CNN Talk Asia. Rain also won the Best Korean Singer Award 2005 at the Mandarin Music Honors in Taiwan.
Rain then went on his
RAINY DAY 2005 Tour, starting in Seoul and followed by Tokyo and Hong Kong; due to his fame and his extravagant performances, tickets sold out quickly. His first solo concert in Japan last summer, entitled Rainy Day Japan held at the Tokyo International Forum, was so popular that all the tickets were sold out 30 seconds after going on sale. The tickets for another of his concerts in Taiwan were sold out the moment they became available also. His performances in Hong Kong also sold out in a couple of hours. Rain continues to set records in Asia. Now planning to go beyond Japan and Hong Kong, Rain will make a foray into China by giving a concert in Beijing.
In April 2006, he was mentioned in the
Time magazine website article that named the "100 Most Influential People Who Shape Our World." In 2007, Rain topped Time Magazine's online user poll, although he was not in the magazine's actual list. He has an ongoing joke feud with Stephen Colbert for the top spot. He also made it into People's 2007 list of the "Most Beautiful People" in the world.

Rain's success in the US is limited. Several of Rain's US concerts in 2007 were cancelled due to low tickets sales and possible legal troubles. Time magazine noted that Rain may collaborate in the future with Diddy. This came after reviewing Rain's performances in Madison Square Garden in February 2006. His two day concert, Rainy Day New York was marketed and promoted by the Asian concert production company Rainstone Live. Tickets were sold out within a matter of days.
Special guests who made stage appearances at the concert included American pop singer
JoJo, R&B singer Omarion, and hip-hop mogul Diddy.
There is also news that Rain will be recording a duet with Omarion, who used to be the vocalist of the popular hip-hop group,
B2K, and had starred in the movie, You Got Served. When Rain's first movie, I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, finished filming in early July 2006, he departed for the U.S. to discuss the possibility of singing the duet with Omarion, and to meet with the organizers of his Asian Tour. Rain apparently met Omarion through his producer, who had written a song for Omarion's recent album. Also, after Rain's concert in February in New York - where Omarion danced to Rain's song "Bad Guy" - Omarion and Rain became friends, says JYP Entertainment. They also noted that the two may star in a movie together one day.
Omarion and Rain recorded a duet song, "Man Up," that was released on the European version of Omarion's album
21 as a bonus track. The song has yet to be released in the U.S. due to contractual issues between several record labels.
In 2007, Rain made it to
People's Most Beautiful People list for the first time, in its "First-Time Beauties 2007" section. In a press release, Rain stated that he was honored to be on the list, and also noted that it will be a great boost to his efforts to raise his public awareness in the United States. Also in 2007, Rain topped Time's open online poll. He beat Stephen Colbert by 100,000 votes; Colbert jokingly retaliated by producing a parody of Rain's music video for "Ways to Avoid the Sun" called "He's Singin' In Korean". Stephen Colbert has since challenged Rain to a dance-off "or a cuddle-off, or a spoon-off". On May 5, 2008, Rain appeared in a "surprise" guest segment at the end of The Colbert Report, and proceeded to engage Stephen in a dance-off. In the end, Rain won by causing the Dance Dance Revolution machine on which they were competing to overload and explode.
Rain performed in two concert dates in
Las Vegas, Nevada on December 23-24, 2006; the tickets to these concerts sold out within the first week of sales. The concerts were held at the Colosseum Center at Caesars Palace.

The True Blue Atenean
Being a housemate, Robi has to forego his high school graduation – and the chance to receive his award for excellence personally. Living up to being a man for others, though, he considers the chance to be a housemate a worthy compromise, not because it may be a claim to fame but as an opportunity to be a good influence to others.Aiming high, he hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in medicine. A member of the baseball varsity and the honor roll as well, it seems all is set for Robi. One thing he can’t seem to get the hang of, unfortunately, is his love life. He got dumped both times he tried courting a girl, though he’s really persistent in pursuing the second. Too bad they don’t teach Courtship (Anti-torpe) 101 in high school.
As he enters the PBB house, Robi has very positive thoughts on today’s youth. He perceives them to be well-rounded individuals, versatile and willing to try out a variety of things. He carries the same attitude towards his housemates, believing the best of them as he looks forward to hanging out with them despite the varied interests.

"All about ARIEL LIN"

Ariel Lin (Chinese: 林依晨; pinyin:Lín Yīchén; born October 29, 1982) is a Taiwanese actresssinger. and

Lin was first discovered in the Taiwanese variety show Guess and was the champion of the pretty subway girl contest in the show. After appearing in several television roles in Taiwanese dramas during the early 2000s, she rose to fame for playing the role of Yuan Xiang Qin in the hit drama series It Started With a Kiss opposite Joe Cheng.

Lin has also been highly praised for her work in Tokyo Juliet as Lin Lai Sui with Wu Chun and Simon Yam. She is currently working on Legend of the Condor Heroes (Playing Huang RongHu Ge). She attended Taiwan's National Chengchi University, majoring in Korean. opposite of

Most beloved onscreen couple – Zheng Yuan Chang, Lin Yi Chen kiss for the whole 3 years
Every TV series has the romance plot for the male and female lead but not every couple will be able to become the classic onscreen couple. To become the viewers’ ideal onscreen couple is not easy at all, first the appearance must match, the personalities is good and the most important will a product that was able to touch viewers’ hearts. No matter whether the viewers need to re-watch it for 9,700,000 times, it is still ok for them. Taiwanese popular idol, Zheng Yuan Chang and Lin Yi Chen, the both of them have now become the best onscreen couple because of [ISWAK]. The both of them have kiss for the whole 3 years because of this series and how could they not [love] each other!

Xiao Zhong’s version
Zheng Yuan Chang (Xiao Zhong) who has just stepped into the entertainment industry has quickly risen to fame and become one of the popular idols. Last time, he took on one of the role in [The Rose] and his popularity has sky rocketed because of the series and since then his career has been going on smoothly until the year 2005 where he collaborated with Lin Yi Chen in [ISWAK] and it has boost up Xiao Zhong’s popularity to another higher level and the both of them are being recognized by the public as the best onscreen couple.

[ISWAK] started filming at 2004 August and if including the airing, promoting, the filming of [TKA] in 2007 March and until the airing of [TKA], it has already been more than 3 years already. About this one whole [Itazura na Kiss] series, Xiao Zhong was acting very excited about it, he even joked that: [This past 3 years, Lin Yi Chen is the girl that I’ve kiss the most!]

Yi Chen is so quiet
Actually it’s not a joke at all, Xiao Zhong did collaborate on and off with Yi Chen in this past 3 years together. So no matter whether they are from filming to promoting, they were able to meet together and after a while, Xiao Zhong has already accepted Yi Chen as his onscreen couple. Xiao Zhong said: [In real life, the personalities of Yi Chen and me are actually the reverse opposite of Jiang Zhi Shu and Yuan Xiang Qin; she is a bit quiet while I love to talk. If I get to choose, I think I would still choose Yi Chen’s type of girl to be my girlfriend.]

[TKA] The most unforgettable scenes!
Xiao Zhong: [That would be the first episode where the bed scene between me and Xiang Qin! Because it was using one camera to film from the start to the end and no NG was allowed. Before the filming starts, has already been discussing with the director for quite a while and when the actual filming starts, (we) have especially clear the set, the director would be at the side and said: [Now kiss that place, now kiss a bit to the left, a bit to the right.] and this kind of directions so totally didn’t have those passionate feelings at all.]

Yi Cheng: [The story plot arranges Xiang Qin to take the nursing course to become a nurse and later have to withdraw blood from Zhi Shu. Even though I did practice on it before hand but still I’m not a professional and I would feel like fainting whenever I see blood, when Xiao Zhong was looking at me while I was tremblingly drawing blood, he must be terrified about it!]

Yi Chen’s version
And about Yi Chen, because she had a very adorable, active image plus healthy and young so she has been starred in many idol series already; and she’s already taking the leading role since from the start too. Yi Chen has been collaborating with quite a lot of male idols too, like [Love contract] with Mike He, [Tokyo Juliet] with Wu Chun and so on. She has already become the most on demand actress in the idol series.

But when it come too Yi Chen’s choice about which male lead matched her the most, she also said she is most compatible with Xiao Zhong! Yi Chen said: [When I meet up with Xiao Zhong, our main topic will be sliming, dieting; and we are very close; Xiao Mei and I were too quiet, Wu Chun is too perfect, not like a boyfriend. If I have to choose a boyfriend, I will also choose Xiao Zhong.]

One Take to finish with the kissing
Xiao Zhong and Yi Chen, not only admire each other, even while they are working together, their tacit understanding for each other are something that nobody could compare with. Yi Chen said: [Since (we) have collaborating together until now, the tacit understanding between me and Xiao Zhong is already beyond words. And this time it has added even more trust and tacit understanding to it so there’s a lot of scene which (we) only need one take to get the scene done.] Taiwan is now airing [TKA] already, while Hong Kong will also be airing it at the first half of the year of 2008. Seems like even if Xiao Zhong and Yi Chen are not filming [ISWAK3], (they) still need to [Kiss] for one more year because of the promotions for [TKA]!

Ariel Lin uses a straight face to block away flies, returns to her school to recap on the past

During her schooling period, sweet Ariel always uses her straight face to block off the seniors & juniors who admire her.

Ariel went back to her high school for a visit, when faced with fully filled shelves of tibits, those past memories came back to her.
Recently, she joined in the Yu Le Bai Fen Bai (or 100% Ent)'s return to old school segment, & thus she went back to Ming Lun High School. When she appeared, there are thousands of her juniors welcoming her. Its their first time seeing their idol senior, & everyone said "she looks prettier in person than on tv!"

Pretty girls often do not have many friends, during secondary 2 Ariel was scouted to film an advertisment, but her social circle was still very good. Her teacher said that Ariel once was elected as the school's model student without any promotions, while other students depend on posters, & this shows how good her personal connections were.

During high school Ariel's results were very good, especially in Literature, her teacher says "As for physical education, she's strongest in swimming. At that time she was also the vice president of broadcasting, her sweet voice won her many guy's hearts." But Ariel said "I always show them a straight face & don't care about them, so eventually these incidents became lesser."

That day, Ariel became Miss Lin (teacher), she whom graduated from a korean course, taught her juniors how to sing Full House's song . There's also a Mexico exchange student in the school who gets attracted by Ariel, following her everywhere, even to the music lesson.

Ella cHen

Ella Chen finished high school but did not attend university due to her love and passion for singing. On August 8, 2000, HIM International Music held a 'Universal 2000 Talent and Beauty Girl Contest' in search of new artists to sign under their label. When she travelled with her sister to Taipei for a holiday, Ella Chen discovered that her older sister registered her for a singing competition. Intimidated by the long line of contestants and worried of facing ridicule for her tomboy personality, Chen almost gave up before the first round. Her older sister, however, convinced her to stay. Chen's deep voice caught the label's attention, and helped propel her through to the final round. Her alto voice is noted for its strong and beautiful nature.

Following the conclusion of the contest, Chen returned to her duties at the local hospital, but received a call from HIM International requesting an additional audition. After test recordings were done, Chen signed on as part of HIM's newest girl group, S.H.E. When Ella first tested out her signature, HIM employees were concerned that the signature would be easily forged due to its simplicity; thus, during S.H.E's early days, Ella signed autographs using the last character of her name, "樺" (pinyin: huà). However, as S.H.E's autograph sessions drew larger audiences, Ella reverted to her simpler, English signature.

During her career with S.H.E, Ella has been the most accident-prone member. On July 29, she was sent to the hospital after jumping from the third storey of a building and shattering her hip. She returned three weeks later to promote Super Star. In 2005, during the filming of Reaching for the Stars, Ella burned her ears and hair on a candle, prompting crew members to send her to the National Taiwan University Hospital.[3] In order to recover, Ella stayed away from filming for two days, during which she cut off approximately two centimetres of burnt hair on both sides

Chen is the third of four children, including two older sisters and a younger brother. She also had a small pug named Qiang Qiang. However, due to health problems, Qiang Qiang had to undergo surgery and died due to an anaesthetic allergic reaction. As a result of this, she composed and wrote the lyrics to a song dedicated to her deceased pet. She released the EP recently and to reduce costs, she performed many tasks herself, such as designing the cover for the EP, so that the profit, all of which went to animal shelter associations, would be higher. She also asked several of her friends and acquaintances, such as Joe Cheng and Jay Chou, to sign a few of the EP so that they could be auctioned off.
